Personal injury law firm in Fort Lauderdale, Florida has an immediate opening for a skilled, self-motivated Legal Assistant/Junior Paralegal. Must have great attention to detail in scheduling, calendaring, and docketing. Advanced computer skills are necessary. Must have strong communication skills. We work collaboratively and value everyone in our office.

Responsibilities

  • Providing Legal Assistant/Junior Paralegal support to senior paralegals and attorneys
  • Responsible for overseeing scheduling/calendaring/docketing of matters assigned to you to prepare the cases for trial with the senior paralegals and trial attorneys
  • Answering and directing phone calls
  • Communicating with clients, counsel, courts in a professional articulate manner verbally and written
  • Reconciling all PIP Payments and Subrogation Liens
  • Analysis of medical charges and billing codes for medical treatment provided to persons injured in accidents to accurately determine medical bills that need to be reimbursed from a potential settlement
  • Reduction of Medical Bills for settlements
  • Must be Familiar with ICD 10 Codes, CPT Codes
  • In depth understanding of Medicare Laws and The Medicare cost procurement formula to obtain Medicare lien reductions
  • Drafting legal documents and correspondence
  • E-filing in state and Federal Court
  • Maintaining and updating contact information of all parties related to matters
  • Monitoring deadlines and preparing calendar reports for the office

Skills

  • Proven working experience as a litigation Legal Assistant/Junior Paralegal
  • Mastery level understanding of e-filing protocols, and the court system
  • Mastery level experience in day-to-day operations of a personal injury office
  • Mastery level computer literacy
  • Mastery level working knowledge of case management software
  • Mastery level working knowledge of medical billing and billing codes
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to multi-task responsibilities and work under pressure
  • Degree, diploma or, certification a plus – but not required

Experience:

  • Legal Assistant: 2 years (Required)
  • Medical bill and lien resolution: 2 years (Required)
  • Calendaring/Docketing: 2 years (Required)
