CMTL is a personal injury law firm in Fort Lauderdale. As of mid-2024, the firm has two attorney partners and about 8 full time employees. The firm acts on behalf of plaintiffs who have been injured and are seeking a financial recovery. CMTL currently uses QuickBooks Online for its bookkeeping and accounting system. It maintains operating accounts and IOLTA accounts, as well as firm credit cards and various forms of debt financing. The firm’s transaction volume and financial complexity are larger than expected for an entity this size, due to the regulations related to trust accounting and the large volume of cases. Applicants for the Law Firm Accountant role at CMTL should:- Have bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance from an accredited program, although a CPA designation is not required
- Be at expert or near expert level in their knowledge of QuickBooks Online; and be familiar with CRM systems such as Litify; as well as being an expert or near expert user of Excel, including data analytics
- Be willing to learn dashboarding and data visualization applications such as Tableau, PowerBI and others, if the person does not already have this knowledge
- Make accurate journal entries and prepare balance sheets, income statements, statements of cash flows, and trial balances with little to no supervision, using only the information available to them from the firm’s accounting systems
- Be able to reconcile bank accounts and credit card statements with no supervision
- Have a solid understanding of trust accounting (as governed by the Florida Bar Association and other bodies) and partnership accounting rules and practices Be able to make meaningful contributions to the firm’s financial strategy, to support its growth strategy over the next 5-10 years
- Have worked for at least 2-3 years as an accountant in a small or medium sized business, ideally in a partnership structure
- Be able to pass a comprehensive background check and provide employment references, and be legally authorized to work in the USA without employer sponsorship

Job Description Client Intake Specialist
Fort Lauderdale Plaintiff personal injury law firm seeks a full-time (approximately 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday 9:00 am to 5:00 pm) Must be experienced. Bilingual Spanish and English preferred. The ideal candidate is fluent in both languages and can speak both without an accent. Client Intake Specialist: Full responsibility for handling and screening of all intakes for all practice areas, as well as follow-on contact to secure leads. Create, maintain, and keep documentation related to actions taken as part of the intake process, including but not limited to filing out intake forms, maintaining the intake database, generating timely reports, and maintaining correspondence. Candidate is expected to use their existing expertise to improve overall operational efficiency within their area of the firm, working closely with staff to identify, monitor and analyze potential systemic or policy issues that arise through the intake and information line Candidate will serve as the client's primary point of contact for the first 60 days of engagement including helping the client get to necessary medical care; coordinating repair of the client’s vehicle if damaged and documenting the property damage through repair estimates photographs and video; coordinating recorded statements of witnesses; coordinating site inspections with expert witnesses; communicating with law enforcement; communicating with insurance companies; retrieving police reports and other investigative materials; place the health insurance company on notice; and notifying the potential defendant of the claim to obtain insurance information and preserve evidence. The candidate will be responsible for cataloging referral sources for future marketing purposes.
